Easy Italian Appetizer Recipes Just In Time for Football

Italian Appetizer recipes are the best!  I have such a good dip for you.  It’s that time of year again, and boy am I ready! If football were year round I would be the happiest girl in the South! With LSU’s first game under our belt and the Saints first game tomorrow I’m ready to heat it up in the kitchen with football food especially with my Italian appetizer recipes!

So Good There Won’t Be Any Leftovers!

Ok, y’all, this is one of the best Italian appetizers  I made this on TWILA TV the other day (for a future episode) from my new book, Too Hot in the Kitchen, and I literally had none left over to bring home! The bowl for my Meaty Italian Dip will practically wash itself! Save a little side bowl for yourself because you may not get any… keep it hidden, or you may get TACKLED! 😉 (The best part, make a ton, it’s freezer friendly… then you will have some all season long!)

Meaty Italian Dip from Too Hot in the Kitchen:  Secrets to Sizzle At Any Age

Had friends over one day and they went wild over this recipe, a creamy hearty dip with robust Italian ingredients – had so many recipe requests and everyone ate more and more and more. This dip tops Italian appetizer recipes in flavor and ease in preparation..

1 pound ground sirloin
6 ounces ground breakfast turkey sausage
½ pound sliced mushrooms
1 cup chopped onion
½ cup minced roasted red peppers (found in jar)
½ cup sliced black olives
1 (14-ounce) can artichokes, drained and finely chopped
1 (14-ounce) can fire-roasted chopped tomatoes
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 (8-ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheese
½ cup nonfat sour cream

1. In large nonstick pot, cook meat, sausage, mushrooms and onion until meat and sausage are done, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
2. Add remaining ingredients, except sour cream and cook until cheese is melted and dip is well heated. Stir in sour cream, heat and serve.

Spicy Advice: Fire-roasted diced tomatoes have a roasted smoky flavor for a more intense tasting tomato.

Dips that Rate

I think tomorrow I may have a theme to the foods I’ll be serving while watching the game… Dips From Around the World – they’re just so good I wanted an excuse to serve them all! I’m going to serve Eight Layered Greek Dip and Guacamole Goes Mediterranean. Maybe I’ll have to call it European Dip Night? Ahh… who cares, let’s eat! I do think Meaty Italian Dip is one of the best Italian appetizer recipes

All of these recipes are from my cookbook, Too Hot in the Kitchen: Secrets to Sizzle at Any Age. The book is available from Amazon… hope you enjoy it! Check out my easy tailgating recipes.
